AIM: To lead and support the city of Peterborough in establishing itself as “the UK’s Environment Capital”; to act as an examplar of how to deliver truly sustainable growth in order to improve the overall quality of life of its people, communities and environment.

Green Schools Revolution

AIM: To encourage school pupils to take proactive action towards the environment. The programme aims to engage 6,000 schools by 2014.

BACKGROUND: The Co-Operative introduced the Green Schools Revolution as a sustainability education programme designed to challenge primary and secondary school students, between the ages of five and 16, to become environmental pioneers within their own homes and communities. The programme offers free resources, field trips, and activities to each participating school.

Fitter for Walking

Space Makers Agency

Brixton Remade

SHIMMER

Back 2 Earth

AIM: To transform local people’s lives by enabling engagement with, and productive use of, the immediate environment.

BACKGROUND: Back2Earth (B2E) began life in 2004 as a local community regeneration and environmental charity, developing a programme of environmental volunteering (particularly around local community food production) and green skills training projects, mainly for marginalised and disadvantaged residents.

STATUS: Ongoing.
